Swiss Government Exercises its Right to Freedom of Speech

The Swiss Peoples Party (SVP), the largest party in the Swiss government, has stuck this poster up all of Switzerland. Its part of a new campaign aimed at deporting the families of foreigners when a family member commits a crime.

The image is of the good people kicking out the black sheep, but it also has racist connotations and the back, red and white colour scheme does have that 'hint of Nazi' vibe going on.

The SVP have also published a poster showing a veiled Muslim woman with the question, "Where are we living, Baden or Baghdad?".

Jewish groups, left wing parties and even the UN have complained about the poster. The United Nations special rapporteur on racial discrimination, Doudou Diene from Senegal, has asked the Swiss government for an official explanation of the campaign.

The SVP responded by saying,

"We have got freedom of speech in our country. Obviously [Mr Diene] has not understood our culture of democracy. I would suggest he reads up on it."

When Lars Vilks published his Mohammed cartoon he said he did so to provoke and to see where the limits of freedom of speech are. Much has been written since then regarding this issue, so I wonder what people think of the SVS evoking the 'freedom of speech' arguement in this case.

This isn't just a rogue person after all who one can choose to ignore, or some small rightwing group looking for publicity, but rather the democratically elected government of a soverign European country, who enjoy a clear lead in the polls.

If the people don't like it, then they won't vote for that particular party. If they, sadly, do like it, then they can exercise their right to vote to support them. Such are the marvels and horrors of democracy. ;)

FN har ju en lång tradition av att tillåta folkmord i tredje välden. Hur kan då en pedagogisk valaffisch uppröra?

This will happen more and more around Europe.
History has shown that this is what happens in a multicultural society.
Unfortunately the european politicians never listen to their people or actual facts - they rather open their gates for an almost uncontrolled "refugee" flood and then tell their citicens to change their ways to accomodate these refugees culture and ways - even when it totally clashes with everything we europeans are tought.
This is the reason that we see more and more of these nationalistic parties - it wont change until poloticians actually start listen to their own people.

Kostas,

I have to disagree with you. History does not show that multiculturalism does not work at all (ok, if you discount the Nazis).

Britain has a long tradition of multiculturalism and it has been for the net benefit of the nation. You will always get some clashes of culture, but you can also learn from the diversity of other cultures too.

The first generation is always the hardest to integrate, but it gets easier with each subsequent generation.

Migrapolis, you are a racist and exactly the target audience for this kind of poster.

I should have known this post would be like a magnet to all the right wing assholes out there. It's just sad that only one person has made a more balanced comment

Ah, yes, Srebrenica. Now that's funny. How many was it, allegedly, 8,000? And then 3 years later 750 of those people show up and vote in the elections? But the media damage was done. And then about a week ago the government of the Serbian entity (Serb Republic) in Bosnia releases to the media proof that another 954 of those 8,000 have been killed in battles before 1994 - and that means ALL OVER Bosnia and Herzegovina, not just in Srebrenica (need I remind you that the "massacre" in Srebrenica occurred in 1995 - so these people COULDN'T have been killed there in the first place)?

This proof has not been disputed by anyone, as of yet. The West, as well as the Bosniaks, are silent about it. So suddenly it's not 8,000 but it's closer to 6,000.

And they were all men of fighting age anyway. If we wouldn't have killed them then, we would have had to kill them on the front lines. Unlike you Westerners, we Serbs don't enjoy killing women, children, and elders. And the biggest massacre the Bosnian Muslims did upon the Bosnian Serb population in Bratunac municipality in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1994 numbers about 3,500, but that barely got any media coverage. And it involved women, children, and elders as well. Decapitation, mutilation, and all the other nice tricks of the mujahedeen trade.

But your beloved BBC and CNN won't spoon-feed you that. It's so easy to point fingers, but in reality it's never all so black and white. And in case you forgot, people die in wars (as if your country hasn't caused so many wars all over the world).

Genocide is what Hitler did to the Jews, to us (we had 2 million dead in each of the two World Wars), and to a few other nations in Eastern Europe in WW2. Genocide numbers in millions, not thousands. How many non-white people has your Empire killed in Africa, South Asia, and any other places your soon-to-be-obsolete Union Jack has flown? The Sun didn't set over the British Empire, well, now I think it's setting quite rapidly. Forever.

And don't you dare tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about. Just go to the BBC site and search for "social decay in the UK". I've done my homework.

Now, about that mess WE have got ourselves into. We were stupid 90 years ago for wanting to get into that stupid Yugoslavia with the Croats and Slovenes in the first place, and that back then was a mistake we are still not finished paying for. And unlike you, Aryan, I am able to realize and to admit that my people have made a mistake. I am not expecting you to apologize for anything. That kind of thing is for us lesser beings, not for you Aryans.

I am truly not expecting anything other than for the EU and the US to leave us alone. What I am hoping for is that someday some of you realize that your TV has a habit of lying to you, and that sometimes the reality is not as black and white as you like to present it to yourselves.

And let me ask you something. Are you even capable of acknowledging the tone in which you are saying this? "You talk about Serbia being left alone to run its own country, but what have you done with this opportunity?"

It is the typical tyrannical Aryan mentality. You can dispute anyone's right to think or do anything under the sun, but your own opinion, culture, way of life, value system, and things you do are above questioning. Indisputable. For centuries you were bringing "culture" and "enlightenment" to coloured people all over the world through steel, lead, and gunpowder. Who was there to accuse YOU of genocide and to bomb YOU with depleted uranium then?

What about your support for the disastrous US wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? Now you are withdrawing your troops from Iraq, why? Because you got your arses handed to you on a silver platter, eh?

Because now that you're getting out, Turkey has to send its troops into Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) so as to prevent the creation of a Kurdish nation-state, because for Turkey that is a matter of survival. 20% of people in Turkey are Kurds, and they want to have their own country, to join their brothers in Iraq, which have, after all these centuries, finally managed to win some form of self-rule. As well they should have. All peoples deserve to have a country.

And of course, there are the "war crimes". Let's see, we have an International "Justice" Tribunal in the Hague, which, in its infinite wisdom and fairness, lets everyone else (Croats, Bosniaks, Albanians) go free but the Serbs, a few of whom have met their ends in there.

And our main war heroes Ratko Mladic and Radovan Karadzic are in hiding. For all we know, they could be in Argentina, Mongolia, or even Namibia. We don't have a James Bond to tell us where they are.

But know this, you will NEVER be able to bomb us or bribe us into admitting that our heroes who fought for our land and our people are criminals. And even if we knew where they are, we wouldn't tell YOU.

Now you tell me, who's going to judge Tony Blair for the civilian deaths caused by the presence of UK troops in Iraq (and you had no right and no cause to be there in the first place)? Who's going to judge George W. Bush for Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo? History. And soon.

Yes, you should shed a tear for the "innocent" FIGHTING men we "murdered" in Srebrenica. Otherwise many of them would have murdered our people, and after the war, many of them would have sought "asylum" (what a bullshit-laden concept) and emigrated straight to your country and to the US, to build a few dozen mosques and have a few pairs of children each. Perhaps do a massacre or two in a shopping mall. I know that you, in your infinite tolerance of all things Muslim, would love that.

Like that guy earlier this year in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a Bosniak, or Bosnian Muslim, or whatever you want to call them. Got himself some weaponry, and started killing people in a shopping mall. Like in a bloody computer game. Till an off-duty cop ended his misery.

And get this - the guy was from the municipality of Srebrenica, too. Is that the kind of people you want us to live in the same country with? Or would you rather live with them yourself?

You know, his family could have sought asylum in your country, too. Would you have liked him to do his life's work in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds? Perhaps north London? I hear you got some fancy shopping malls there.

Killing enemy combatants, even en masse, is one thing. Killing innocent people in a shopping mall is quite another. I hope even you can agree with me on this.

And don't even start with Kosovans. There is no such thing. There are Serbs and there are Albanians. And there never have been and never will be any Kosovans.

And I see absolutely no reason why Albanians should be allowed to have Kosovo to themselves when 60 years ago there were no more than 100,000 of them there, and when they have their own country right across the border. What we did to them is no more than what you would do to anyone who would try to take away a part of your own country because one day they woke up and decided to do so. Actually, if we would have been smarter, we would have accused them of terrorism (and perhaps garnered more international support for our struggle against them), which is what they are still doing down there.

Kosovo has 70% unemployment, AIDS levels on par with any African country (which your ilk brought "culture" and "enlightenment" to, a few centuries ago), and rampant prostitution, white slavery, arms and drugs trade, and all the other perks of living under UN and NATO. And all this in 8 years since we were forced to withdraw our armed forces from there.

I am able to admit that in a war all sides commit crimes. I am able to not deny that there may have been women raped by Serbian soldiers, and that those soldiers (and not all Serbs as a nation) should be made to answer for those crimes.

Are you able to admit that there have been atrocities committed by British troops in Iraq, and that someone should be made to answer for them?

Ethnic cleansing is a crime invented by the Western powers at the end of the twentieth century. Before that mankind used to have these things called land wars, in which if you want to live on your land, you have to get the other guys out of there before they do the same thing to you.

There is this thing called survival. And you have to fight for it. But it seems you Aryans are above that, too. Too busy working 666 hours a week and spending your entire lives in debt and having negative population growth and having to import people from all ends of the Earth just to keep going.

Now watch where exactly YOUR kind of stupid selfless multiculturalism is going to get all of Western Europe, 10 years from now.

So NOW let's see the UN do something now, when Russia is finally back on its feet, and doing its part to make this world a better place. In case you forgot, it was NATO, NOT the UN, who bombed us, and without ANY kind of UN approval.

Bosnia is no country. Learn your European history. Bosnia was never more than a geographic region. In Yugoslavia it was a province. Yugoslavia was a country, albeit a bad one. And now half of Bosnia (Serb Republic) belongs to Bosnian Serbs (68% of all land in Bosnia before the war was owned by Serbs), and soon it will split from the rest of Bosnia and join Serbia, which is how it should be. And there's not a DAMN thing the West can do to stop that.

Good thing we have world-class tennis players who have done more for the worldwide reputation of our country than any of our idiot politicians ever had. This is the twenty-first century, and the world is a different place than it was at the end of the Cold War.

When you Aryans realize that, it will be far too late.

Good luck to you. And least you were smart enough to move to a country in every imaginable way better than your own. May you live happily there, while you watch the Union Jack get taken down for the last time...

Swenglishman,

your example of a working mulicultural, Britain, is not true.

You aperantly havent read the last weeks reports from your own homeland regarding this.
All the positive things are greatly outnumberd by the big problems to much immigration causes. So lets stick to facts.

Most of the problems of today have beeen caused by The UK.
Great Brittains history is a truly shamefull one. So many of the problems in Burma, African countries and the middle east are the fault of the UK. They thought they knew how everything should be done and that only they knew how. Then it all fell to shit!

At least Germany has appologized for the horrible crimes that was committed. I think we´ll never see that happening to the same extend in the UK, Russia or USA.....

Ian Bird-Radolovic said...

The problem in Britain is not due to imigrants per se, but rather the volume of immigrants coming to the UK and strain this is putting on social services. Obviously you can't accept more people than the system can cope with.

However, when properly integrated, immigrants do add to the cultural diversity of a country and this can be to the net benefit.

As for Mr Serb, I don't see what difference it makes if it was only 6000 or 8000 who were murdered at Srebrenica, you still marched thousands of unarmed non-combatants who were in a supposed UN safe haven into a forest and then butchered them. And then you try to justify this by saying that if you had not killed them there and then you might have faced them on the front line. What kind of twisted logic is that?

Then in Kosovo, you didn't offer to relocate these people to Albania, or offer compensation for them to relocate, no you sent in squads to kill rape and bully the population to flee their homes in fear of what you might do next if they stay. Which condidering what you had already done is Srebrenica, I don't blame them for running.
